AQA GCSE Physics (8463) Tutor in Saudi Arabia

AQA GCSE Physics (8463) is AQA's UK GCSE in Physics, covering energy, electricity, particles, atoms, forces, waves, magnetism and space. The course is linear, so both written papers are sat at the end, in the same May/June series, at either Foundation tier (8463F) or Higher tier (8463H). Students must recall some equations and select others from a Physics equation sheet, so our one-to-one online tutoring in Saudi Arabia pairs topic explanations with regular calculation practice.

Foundation Tier Support

Aimed at students entered for Foundation tier, which leads to grades 1 to 5. We explain ideas clearly, practise equations and units step by step, and revise all eight topics.

Higher Tier Support

For students entered at Higher tier, where grades run from 4 to 9 and a narrow miss can earn an allowed grade 3. We spend extra time on Higher-only content such as momentum, Fleming's left-hand rule and transformers, and on equations set only at this tier.

AQA GCSE Physics (8463) Required Practicals

Ten activities, examined through written questions

AQA names ten required practical activities for GCSE Physics. There is no separate practical exam: the written papers contain questions based on them, and these questions are worth at least 15% of the overall marks.

The required practicals are:

  • determining the specific heat capacity of one or more materials
  • how well different materials work as thermal insulators, and the factors that affect insulation
  • the factors affecting the resistance of a circuit: the length of a wire, and resistors in series and in parallel
  • the I–V characteristics of a filament lamp, a diode and a resistor at constant temperature
  • the density of regular and irregular solids and of liquids
  • the relationship between force and extension for a spring
  • how force and mass affect the acceleration of an object
  • the frequency, wavelength and speed of waves in a ripple tank and in a solid
  • the reflection of light by different surfaces and its refraction by different substances
  • how the infrared radiation a surface absorbs or radiates depends on the nature of that surface

Students carry out these practicals at school. Our online lessons go through each method, help students name the independent, dependent and control variables, process results, plot graphs and judge uncertainty and reliability.

Our Teaching Approach

One-to-One Online Tutoring

Lessons follow the 8463 specification in paper order, Topics 1–4 and then Topics 5–8. Each equation is introduced with the idea behind it, then practised through worked examples that stress units and rearranging.

Assignments & Detailed Feedback

Assignments use the question types AQA sets in both papers: multiple-choice, structured, closed short-answer and open-response. Students practise multi-step calculations in correct SI units, graph questions from the required practicals, and extended answers. Feedback shows exactly where marks were lost.

Mock Exams & Past Paper Practice

Timed mocks copy the real papers: two sittings of 1 hour 45 minutes and 100 marks, each worth 50% of the final grade, taken together at the end of the course in the May/June series. We mark scripts against AQA mark schemes, and Paper 2 practice includes the energy conservation ideas from Topics 1 and 2 that it can draw on.

Topics Covered

AQA GCSE Physics (8463) has eight content topics, split evenly between the two exam papers:

Paper 1: Topics 1–4
  • Energy: energy stores, power, efficiency and energy resources
  • Electricity: circuits, resistance, mains electricity and static electricity
  • Particle model of matter: density, internal energy, specific heat capacity and gas pressure
  • Atomic structure: isotopes, radioactive decay, half-life, fission and fusion
Paper 2: Topics 5–8
  • Forces: motion, Newton’s laws, moments, pressure in fluids and momentum
  • Waves: wave properties, the electromagnetic spectrum, lenses and black body radiation
  • Magnetism and electromagnetism: magnetic fields, the motor effect and transformers
  • Space physics: the solar system, the life cycle of a star, satellites and red-shift
Assessed Across Both Papers
  • Paper 2 questions can draw on energy ideas from Topics 1 and 2
  • Questions based on the ten required practicals
  • Equations to recall and equations to select from the Physics equation sheet
  • Working scientifically and maths skills

Frequently Asked Questions

AQA GCSE Physics (8463) is AQA's UK GCSE in Physics. It is marked on the 9 to 1 scale, covers eight topics from energy to space physics, and is examined in English only.

8463 is a GCSE. It is the UK qualification from AQA, whereas OxfordAQA's international physics course is a different qualification, International GCSE Physics (9203), with its own page on this site.

Practicals are assessed through the written papers rather than in a separate exam. AQA says questions based on its ten required practical activities carry at least 15% of the marks. Students do the practicals in their school lab, and we help online with method, variables, results, graphs and evaluating the conclusion.

Yes. We offer one-to-one online tutoring for students across Saudi Arabia, with support for topic learning, calculations, revision, and exam preparation.

Two written papers, each 1 hour 45 minutes, 100 marks and 50% of the grade, are sat at the end of the course in a single May/June series. Paper 1 tests Topics 1–4 and Paper 2 tests Topics 5–8, and Paper 2 may also draw on energy conservation ideas from Energy and Electricity.

Foundation and Higher are two entry levels, and each student sits one. Foundation reaches grades 1 to 5, Higher reaches 4 to 9, and a Higher candidate who narrowly misses a 4 can receive an allowed grade 3. Some content, including momentum and transformers, and a few equations appear at Higher tier only.
