- About Edexcel IGCSE Physics in Saudi Arabia
What is Edexcel IGCSE Physics (4PH1)?
Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics (4PH1) develops students' understanding of the principles of physics, practical investigation and the application of scientific ideas. The qualification is assessed through two written papers: Paper 1 lasts 2 hours and Paper 2 lasts 1 hour 15 minutes. The assessment is linear and covers the full specification, with Paper 2 also assessing the additional bold content identified in the specification. Examinations are available in the June and November examination series.
Untiered Physics Support
This qualification is untiered, so all students study the same course and sit the same papers, with support tailored to their level and target grade
Strong Concept & Exam Preparation
We focus on areas where students need to combine physics knowledge with accurate calculations, interpretation and application, including:
• Standard form, significant figures and correct units
• Applying equations and showing clear working
• Graphs, data interpretation and experimental variables
• Electricity, waves and electromagnetic effects
• Radioactivity, half-life and particle physics
These are tutoring focus areas designed to help students develop the skills needed for Pearson Edexcel examination questions.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics (4PH1) Practical Skills
Assessed through the written papers
Practical skills are assessed through the written papers; there is no separate practical exam. The specification names practicals that students should be able to describe and evaluate, including:
- Motion of everyday objects
- Extension of springs, wires and rubber bands
- Charging insulators by friction
- Refraction of light and determining the refractive index of glass
- Measuring the speed of sound in air and determining frequency using an oscilloscope
- Thermal energy transfer by conduction, convection and radiation
- Determining density from mass and volume
- Temperature-time investigations for melting and boiling, and determining specific heat capacity
- Magnetic field patterns
- Investigating the penetrating power of radiation
We also practise the skills these questions test, including identifying variables, choosing appropriate graph scales, using correct units and significant figures, and evaluating experimental methods.
Our Teaching Approach
One-to-One Online Tutoring
Lessons are tailored to the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics 4PH1 specification, helping students build secure understanding across the full course while identifying topics and skills that need further practice.
Assignments & Detailed Feedback
Students practise calculations, structured questions, data interpretation and practical-based problems, with feedback focused on accurate working, units, scientific terminology and applying physics to unfamiliar situations.
Mock Exams & Past Paper Practice
Students prepare for both Pearson Edexcel Physics papers. Paper 1 lasts 2 hours and carries 110 marks, while Paper 2 lasts 1 hour 15 minutes and carries 70 marks. We practise the full range of question styles and prepare students to show working, use correct units and respond effectively to practical and data-based questions.
