Cambridge International AS & A Level Further Mathematics (9231) extends A Level Mathematics into further pure mathematics, further mechanics and further probability and statistics. Topics include complex numbers, matrices, hyperbolic functions, differential equations, projectiles, circular motion, t-distributions, chi-squared tests and probability generating functions. Students can take it as an AS Level (two papers) or a full A Level (four papers).
Cambridge expects students to have studied most of AS & A Level Mathematics (9709) before or alongside Further Mathematics, because every 9231 paper builds on 9709 Pure Mathematics 1 and 3. It suits students in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere who enjoy mathematics and are aiming for degrees such as mathematics, engineering, physics, computer science or economics.
Further Pure Mathematics 1 and 2 cover roots of polynomials, rational functions, summation of series, proof by induction, polar coordinates, matrices, vectors, hyperbolic functions, complex numbers and differential equations.
Further Mechanics and Further Probability & Statistics apply these methods to rigid bodies, elastic strings, collisions, statistical inference and hypothesis testing, the kind of modelling used in engineering, physics and data-driven degrees.
We provide professional online Further Mathematics tutoring in Saudi Arabia for students studying the Cambridge board. Our lessons are structured, personalised, and designed to help students succeed in one of the most demanding A Level subjects.
Students in Riyadh can get expert support in Cambridge Further Mathematics (9231) through focused online lessons, advanced topic explanation, and exam-oriented practice.
We help students in Jeddah strengthen their understanding of complex mathematical concepts with step-by-step guidance and regular problem-solving practice.
Our tutoring in Dammam supports students with deeper mathematical reasoning, structured revision, and board-specific exam preparation.
Students in Al Khobar receive one-to-one online tutoring designed to improve confidence in advanced pure mathematics and applied mathematical topics.
For students in Dhahran, we offer clear, organised, and results-focused tutoring for Cambridge Further Mathematics (9231).
Four written papers, combined into AS Level or A Level routes.
Cambridge AS & A Level Further Mathematics (9231) has four externally assessed written papers. All questions are compulsory.
AS Level candidates take Paper 1 with either Paper 3 or Paper 4. A Level candidates take all four papers, either in the same series or staged over two years. A scientific calculator is allowed in all papers, but graphical calculators and calculators with symbolic algebra are not.
Our teaching method is designed for students who need clarity, challenge, and structured exam preparation in Further Mathematics.
Lessons follow the 9231 syllabus paper by paper. We check the 9709 Pure Mathematics 3 content each topic depends on before moving into further pure topics, so gaps in A Level Mathematics are fixed early.
Practice focuses on full, clearly written solutions, because unsupported calculator answers earn no marks. Feedback covers proof and "show that" questions, accuracy to three significant figures, and correct use of the MF19 formula list.
Students practise timed past papers for their route: Paper 1 and Paper 2 (2 hours each) and Paper 3 or Paper 4 (1 hour 30 minutes each). Exams are available in the June and November series.
Our Cambridge AS & A Level Further Mathematics (9231) tutoring covers all four papers:
Further Pure Mathematics
Further Mechanics
Further Probability and Statistics

AS Level Further Mathematics is two papers: Paper 1 Further Pure Mathematics 1 with either Paper 3 Further Mechanics or Paper 4 Further Probability & Statistics. The full A Level is all four papers. AS candidates can get grades a to e, and A Level candidates A* to E.
Papers 1 and 2 are each 2 hours and 75 marks. Papers 3 and 4 are each 1 hour 30 minutes and 50 marks. In the full A Level, the pure papers are worth 30% each and the mechanics and statistics papers 20% each. Exams are available in the June and November series.
Cambridge expects students to have studied most of AS & A Level Mathematics (9709) first or alongside it. All four 9231 papers assume 9709 Papers 1 and 3. Further Mechanics also assumes Paper 4, and Further Probability & Statistics assumes Papers 5 and 6. Both subjects can be taken in the same exam series.
A scientific calculator is expected in every paper. Graphical calculators and calculators that can do symbolic algebra, differentiation or integration are not permitted. Students must show their working, and the MF19 list of formulae and statistical tables is provided.
Yes, we provide online Cambridge Further Mathematics (9231) tutoring in Saudi Arabia for students in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Al Khobar, Dhahran, and other cities.
